scrap the last comment about math. 4.0! 4.0! 4.0!
sure i didnt get a 4.0 overall like
some genius did. (im hiring you as tutor in advance for jc. i dont care if you take a different combi. you shall be paid with food :D) but a 3.69 isn't too bad, though im quite sad to have dropped my physics 4.0.
(ms siow goes: Joanne has a flair in Physics and could be more actively involved in class -translation: she sleeps-. She has the potential to excel with more attention paid to details. wahahahah.)
and i wished i got a 3.75! then my grades across the years would have formed a strange twisted parabola.
and for good measure, im still in denial (maybe it'll hit me on 14th Jan 2009, when i have to sign up for a new cca) and i like it here so dont expect me to start reminiscing anytime soon.when i do however, expect it in parts because theres just too many areas to think about.

my mom wonders why i cant be perfect.
why cant you be like so-and-so and top the class in math?and of course, moderation is bogus to her. after all, if someone else has done it before, then its a given that i can too right? eve if that someone else is from a completely different school with a completely different education.
needless to say, im not having a good week. graduating tmr is not helping.
neither are the constant reminders we've been having recently from all sorts of authorities that yes, our batch sucks. not that we don't deserve it and i cant blame them for trying desperately as a last ditch attempt to whip us into shape before we go to rj and completely embarress ourselves/them, but hey, can you pleaseeee let us graduate with a little love? lay off on the "you are all going to grow up and become Saddam Husseins" (no, im not kidding, ive heard a teacher tell us that before in sec 2) is that all we've amounted to, all these 4 years, a crappy batch that doesnt pay attention in hall assemblies? surely we've had brought some semblence of joy into this school. but so far all ive felt is that we've been nothing but a disappointment to the staff, a waste of resources to the school and a giant letdown to the legacy of all ex rgs girls.
lovely.
somehow i still think i will cry tmr. (on a tiny bright side of things? my prelims came back a2. a1 might just be in sight.)

edit: tagboard has been set to 200 words max. type away!

today was deepavali at ram's place! ruth and i arrived first and then we all had to waited around, watching hairspray, for erik to arrive from kallang. after she did, we had lunch, yay for indian food! sarah chong was practically dying from spice-ness and lyn had a strange fascination with eating with hands and insisted ram teach her. so yeah, elbows and rice everywhere = chaos!
after lunch, which included wonderful little mutton+potato balls and chicken briyani, we continued with hairspray. ram+jo+sarahchong+lyn+HAIRSPRAY= crazy (mock) dancing! hahahaha,
you can't stop the beat! nananana and then i found out that the mother was actually a guy. oh the horrors.
after our epic failure at mimicking Ladies' Choice, everyone got down and oh-so-very dirty on Twister. yeah, six biggg girls on a mat can lead to.... um strange positions. after we've violated many many many rules and been in a handful of undesirable positions, we gave up and decided to stick to 4 people. and did i mention fik was there, frantically recording our most unglam moments? yes, pics will be up when fik puts them up her flickr, provided they arent too bad to see daylight.
so a wonderful day burnt out, without any studying at all! my chinese, is so dead, but who cares.

my sis is a jpsl! yay!
quite proud of her, (although im a tad scared her antics will make others think our family= filled with crazy people. then again, i have not been very good at dismissing that idea either.) psb will certainly be a worthwhile and educational journey so i hope she will benefit from it like i did ^^
in other news, hiphop last night was
awesome. i think it gets pretty fun after you get a hang of the moves. :D
and, my uncle from shanghai is in singapore so hes coming over later. gahh. too tired to play host, but i will muster up energy from nowhere for this rare event.

so i totally screwed up my chemra test? like i think i was the worst in class or something.
but its ok. (at least i tell myself it is) because these 2 years, besides arming with with some good habits, have also let me discover my crappy parts. like 1. not reading questions carefully and 2. not being specific enough thus waffling my way through my answers thus getting no marks for somewhat there answers.
thus, next year shall be dedicated to good habits! i must make ms may tan proud.
sighs. no more ms may tan lessons. ever. again. and no more ra too (im still trying to persuade myself that i had made the right choice not to apply for any ras)
gahhh. 9 days to go.

Annie's blog:
"I'm bloody graduating in ten more days and I don't feel a thing. That's just abnormal, and unbelievable."WE'RE GRADUATING IN TEN DAYS?! WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
don't get me wrong. im not adverse to the idea of jc. i know some people loath the thought of being in the same institution as guys, but i don't really have a problem with that. its just the whole, I AM LEAVING THE PLACE IVE BEEN FOR 4 YEARS, AS WELL AS 10 YEARS OF FEMALE EDUCATION THING im trying to deal with right now.
10 days to undo all those terrible terrible habits ive picked up over these 10 years.
damn i think the guys will think we're all insane.boys and girls, guess its time to prep ourselves for
major culture shock?

Stand tall, stand proudVoices that care are crying out loudAnd when you close your eyes tonightFeel in your heart how our love burns bright
it seems a mere few weeks ago when i received the surprise call from andrea and excitedly accepted my new position, and yet , in the flash, my term as ops head has ended and a new generation of spsb exco will take our place.
the year started with many many great expectations. perhaps we were too eager to prove ourselves, perhaps we did not truely understand what our positions entitled us to and what was to be expected of us, perhaps we were just... misinformed. whatever it was, i must say that this year has unrolled in many unexpected ways. apcg, icyl and other various programmes that we thought could nourish our activity in psb turned out to be but false hopes. sure i was lucky to have been part of apcg, very lucky, as well as to have been offered a place as facil in icyl (which i sadly, had to refuse), but these programmes that we initially thought could serve as projects for our committees and help our juniors grow as leaders turned out to be exclusive. so in the end, we were left with very few projects to handle and thus, could not really make full use of the leadership potentials the psb harboured.
unexpected, of course, does not always mean bad. we pushed off new initiatives -the Voices That Care, for one- and laid down foundations for greater psb-student body interactions in the future. a lot of what we did this year still requires more finetuning, but i think sharon chan has done a remarkable job in making sure the next generation of psls know what they are doing and that we impart all our experiences unto our trusted juniors. i firmly belief that spsb09, along with psb09, will bring our board in greater heights.
in these two years of psb, ive received so much so much from this board. in a sense i think that was one of the reasons why i eagerly accepted the exco position -because i wanted to do something, anything to repay the board for all it has given to me, to inspire the juniors the way my seniors inspired me and to pass on the passion and devotion that lies in the core of the psb spirit. have i done that? im not too sure, but what ive come to understand is that no matter how hard i try, as a individual there is no way for me to ever repay the board for the experiences, the insights and most importantly, the love. from the multiple leadership talks ive attended during the mutiple camps/workshops, to all the people i have met from the young to the old, from the singaporean to the non-singaporeans, from organising fam to gms to bglj, there has simply been too much that ive received for me to ever hope to repay alone.
alone yes but together no. spsb09 has been dearest, dearest friends to me this year. although not all of us see each other very often at all, it is the knowledge that there are these people out there that we could count on that comforts me most. it is always a joy to see these fellow spsls along the corridors. these are people who are essential to the board and to me, as an spsl, and together, i think, we've made all the difference.
so our terms have ended and its time to move on. we leave the legacy of psb behind, along with whatever parts of our knowledge that we think may aid these freshly initiated spsls, but most importantly, we leave behind the quiet faith and absolute trust that we have done what we could, and that they will continue to do their best.

i see a hiatus in the horizon....
im so happy huanglaoshi said that if i worked really hard i may be able to get an a1! which means i really have to work my butt off cos currently im only at b4. DDD:
thus the hiatus coming soon.
笨鸟先飞! i will work hard. :D:D
before that though, 5 pics to sum up netcarn! (yes, all from fik) I LOVE 411 WAHH.

yifei! having a good laugh

sarah chong! the ballerina wannabe

mr lim! and his swimming bunnies

da
babes
and us!
gahh im really quite sad its my last netcarn! out of most of the school activities i think netcarn is one of the best. sure none of my classes have ever actually won, (but this year we came in second in banner and second in shooting! which i was in!) but hey mans winning isnt everything! i really really really love 411, and im sure everyone says that of their own classes, but i'll really be quite sad when we graduate and (may) seperate in jc.
which brings me to my other point,
whats up with the rejects mans! im pretty glad rgs aint joining the lot, but really, the bod should have thought more carefully about the name of our new jc maybes?
anws, so after that, we all headed down lido to have lunch and catch
burn after reading. WHICH IS LIKE ONE OF THE MOST INTELLIGENT SHOWS IVE EVERRRR WATCHED. seriously. although its rather dumb. ahahaa oxymoron. you'll get it once you've watched it. after all, "intelligence is relative!"
that exciting saturday ended with dinner at jumbo with family friends. this saturday though, will not be exciting at all, considering the prelims. -gulp- but its ok i shall bake nutella banana chocolate chip cupcakes on sunday to cheer myself up. (try saying that reallyreally fast!) i did make egg and tuna quiche on tuesday, but they were a little sad. very good though!
last but not least
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUZANNE!

ever since the unfortunate 3 weeks of ballet at age 5, i never actually voluntarily went for anymore dance lessons (excluding the compulsory classical dance lessons in school, and other compulsory events like sli etc.) but as if the above mentioned unfortunate events were not sufficient to point out, or rather, declare that HEY JOOU YOU REALLY CANNOT DANCE LEH, i, one way or another, allowed my mom to talk my into hiphop dance lessons.
yeah, i know. i suspect hypnosis.
so ytd night, eve of The-Last-Eight-Percent-Math-Test, instead of staying nice and warm in the confines of my study with my math textbook as company, i found myself in the condo dance studio, staring dumbly at the instructor (whom was later introduced as Ahmad. Ahmad the instructor who instructs). the "dance floor" was nicely split up into 3 sections: the below 10, the above 10 below 20 and the 20 and above. needless to say, i spent the next 1.5 hours like a flamingo with a caffiene induced high.
joou--> :D joou
trying to dance --> EPICFAILURE X/
as if one such experience isnt enough, the course is already paid for so yes, i will not be able to escape failures humiliating clutches. the only bright side of this whole thing, is that it actually forces me to exercise. xD and with fam coming up in a month or so, this can only be a good thing.
life of course, will never just let things be. today, whilst snacking happily with a bunch of 411ers (its like a class outing everyday) at macs breakfast, a strangely familiar hiphop tune resounded through the famous fastfood restaurant. sarah chong nearly died laughing (and the not so funny thing is, she's actually capable of it. she tried once)
on a brighter note, i celebrated the end of math today by baking. (i reaalllly need to get myself a good 8megapixel, 3/4x zoom, canon technology because my camera phone just aint cutting it)

banana phyllo um... pie?
first time working with phyllo, so it was... interesting. and too sweet, though i already reduced the sugar amounts, but apparently, americans are immune to diabetes.

apple raisin strudel.
this one was more succesful. apples+lemonjuice+sugar+cinnamon= heaven

stuffing!
i really enjoy baking, although yes the kitchen ends up in a mess, you get butter and cream and sugar and whatever else all over your fingers, your hands, your face, your mom thinks you've gone nuts, you stand for hours,
you eventually consume all the calories you've burnt baking, you burn your fingers etcetcetc but hey mans its FUN.
although i do have a loooonnnngggg way to go before i get to eriks skill and even further to get to fik's genius and light years away from culinary expert, cw.
xD

pretty much nothing exciting has happened recently, so post traffic is quite low. plus the math test on wed has kept me rather busy. i mean, ok sure its 8% and its not actually possible for me to get a 4.0 anymore, so why bother? but hey! end the math (test) year with a bang mans. although i began my first 8% test extremely badly.
speaking of tests, been getting papers back. same old same old damn-i-wish-i-worked-harder heartaches but so far not heartbreaks leading to depression. hopefully none to come. physics was better than expected, even if i did lose my first 4.0 in all 4 years T.T

today was the day i've been waiting for for a while now: RAMYIA ELANGOVAN PROM DRESS SHOPPING DATE.
ok fine, so we didnt get a dress in the end, but whos fault is it?
we began at far east, which was 90% closed, so we headed off to tangs. we met sheryl and zhang wei at tangs. girls think alike. but tangs was all end of season daniel yam, and everyone knows daniel yam = very dangerous. in a someone-will-definitely-be-wearing-the-same-dress-possibly-in-a-different-colour kinda way. so we moved off the wisma, where we exited a few shops in a hurry after peering at their price tags. there we stopped at isetan, which was quite promising, except the dresses were a tad small, and a tad too short for ms elangovan, who insists in covering up as much as possible. (sarah chong why werent you there you knew we needed someone to force her into dresses!)and we met chloe ong and dee at daniel yam, which reinforced the danger stated above.
so after two failed malls, we headed off to woodlands. yeah woodlands, where we visited metro. metro has nice dresses! but too small. so we went to Fik's Place for lunch ^^
FIKS COOKING= D:0i dont know how she does it (she says she doesnt either) but its really awesomeness. and her aunt's little desserts/pastry thingys are amazing! plus her little bro and sis are so cuteee. and her mom was really nice and gave us all "angbaos"

so pretty!
after demolishing fiks food supply, we (ram, grace, xinmin, erik, qiying and me) headed off to westmall as a last resort. that drew up short too.
so we didnt buy anything in the end. nothing. zilch! grrr.
and of course, that means a rescheduled shopping trip! little india, bugis and vivocity coming up after math.
