this is an angry rant.
i hate it. i hate my holiday. ive done nothing whatsoever to be proud of, besides working. schools two weeks away and im tired. i dont want to do this anymore. but i have no choice. i work on these inane things day after day. my dad keeps yelling at me for doing them wrong, but im trying my best. im trying my freaking best. so stop yelling. i dont like them, i dont want them and i dont think its any good but people around keep saying that i can do it, how great it is, how i would certainly succeed. but wth i dont care. i dont care ok? yes i want to get in too. i want to succeed. but most of all i want to get these things over and done with. and im tired of people telling me to stop doubting my abilities. im not. im not underestimating myself. i just dont freaking care! so why the hell did i do this in the first place? i dont know. because ive been raised like this. with this stupid belief. because everyone around me thinks so. and also because i know coming may if i do succeed ill be grateful to myself for doing it. i want to be able to do this. but ive come this far and now all i want is to stop. to pretend i havent done it. to forget. to do things i want to do. the only things that keep me going now is the knowledge of how much time and money i have already spent, how far ive come, how much i know i need this to be true and all that bloody pressure. this is so pathetic.
all i wanted to do was to paint. to golf. to knit. to sleep. to watch tv. to work. but its ok. its ok for me to give all of that up. icyl, vacationing whatever. because i know ill thank myself for it later. i believe in too much bloody karma. and i need this too much for me to give it up.
i have work again at 3.
please. please pretend you didnt read that because if i receive any more concern i dont deserve i wouldnt be able to hold it together anymore.

im tired from working till closing ytd and then staying up to one just to finish The Memory Keepers Daughter.
2 tables absolutely refused to leave. and MKD wasnt worth it. it was sad. i dont like sad books. but still like to finish them.
i like work. work is engaging, at least.
and my birthdays in exactly one week. yuda said they were having an apcg gathering on the 3rd or the 10th, but the funny thing is im having a bbq and the 10th is class chalet.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY! :D:D:D
so the past few days have been fun. went out with ram, erik and sarah for dinner on tuesday. and spent half and hour ++ oogling at the hot australian figure skater at velocity. afterwhich erik, sarah and i met up with fik and qiying on a free tickets visit to night safari. night safari was fun! considering the last and only time i went i fell asleep. that was a looong time ago. we were lucky, we saw all the animals in almost every cage, which is pretty rare for me cos everytime i go they seem to be unspottable. but fik has imba eyes. and we saw giraffes :D:D
went to watch australia ytd. i take back about all ive said about hugh jackman and the sexiest man alive award because MAN IS HE HOT ON A HORSE AND COWBOY CLOTHES. srsly. australia pwns twilight a zillion times over. just like how cowboys pwn vampires, nicole kidmans pwns unknown new female actress and most imptly of all, hugh jackman pwns whatshisnamecedricdiggory. yes. SO YOU HAVE TO GO WATCH AUSTRALIA. its long, which makes the tickets worth it. and it has nicole kidman in it! i loooveee nicole kidman. and its pretty feminist and addresses important issues like race, war and love.
and it has hugh jackman on horses. ahhhhhhhh!

finally.
i wonder how many posts have began like that. anws, ive finally found an okay christmas song! all i want for christmas by mariah carey. i was trying to look for something not as trashy (like this same song done by britney), a little classical but not like the ones done by billy whatshisname. yup, so here we are!
this weeks my extremely free week, and not entirely because i refused to work on christmas and christmas eve. xD just nice enough time for me to settle a few things. its strange isnt it, how fast it seems. soon school will start! (in fact my sis starts in 2 weeks and im like O: i used to be like that!)

my dads coming home today ^^
so anws, my penchant for meeting people seems to be continuing xD i met mrs quah at KAP cold storage on fri, which is creepy because that means she lives really close to me. and then i met 陈老师 outside united square on sat morning whilst on my way to work. (and no she doesnt teach me either. nor does she teach ram so i have no explanation as to why she knows i exist) but shes very nice :D
in the meantime, chongs back from hokkaido, which means work is infinitely noisier.

so i was at work today, minding my own business (actually more like stoning), trying to 1. look extra helpful and kind to the customers and 2. look extra busy to my supervisors, when Hansel (my supervisor) walked two new people in.
so i turned with my smile at hand only to freeze at the sight of 谢老师 smiling back at me. it went something like this:
me: -shock- 谢-谢老师! 谢老师: -pauses and stares very hard back at me- eh! 你！在这里打工啊？ me: eh. 对。 谢老师：oh! 打多久？到开学阿？ me:对。
yeahhh. it was actually kinda surprising she even figured out i was a student, because 1. i cut my hair and 2. she doesnt teach me. yeah thats right. she teaches ramyia. i know, that shows that i stick around ram tooo much her chinese teacher knows who i am.
and then i turned to greet her companion, only to meet with a chest so i looked up to find the face. and found mr lims face.
me: -pause- mr lim! mr lim: hi. ha. globetrotters huh. (cos i told him last night i was working) me: -still in shock- y-yeahhh.
and then they headed down to table 37 to meet their friend.
it was only later did the implications of it hit me. mr lim! with 谢老师! mr lim and 谢老师!
WOW THE RUMOURS ARE TRUE OOOO:
plus they just got back from osl together the day before. :D:D:D:D
ok lah, to be fair maybe they just decided to meet up so they could see a mutual friend. but get this, both of them didnt eat. and they came together, which means they could have had lunch together. and of course ram had polluted me with scandalous rumours all throughout the school term.

but ok i will stop speculating now because i know that 1. mr lim reads my blog and 2. he owes me ice cream :D (and mr lim if you are reading this you must rmb your promise and inviite me to your wedding ok!)

to make up for the last few boring work-related posts, heres one looonngggg non-work-related post :D since i only have to go to work at 5pm today.
I. Single Ladies

II. FALALALALAAAAA LALALALA :D
every singaporean knows that christmas officially begins when the decorations at orchard go up miraculously overnight. and then there are the promotions, sales, meet the santa sessions, card writing etcetcetc. sure my family hasnt had a christmas tree since we threw our old mouldy plastic one away eons ago, and dont have any relatives to invite over for christmas parties, which makes christmas a pretty quiet affair, but NO ONE ESCAPES THE JOYS OF CHRISTMAS. :D:D:D
i think the old santa claus myth that has been fooling children for ages should just be put to rest because the truth about chrismas is so much better than a bearded old man! what is the truth about christmas? love, joy, peace, giving, forgiveness! the good aspects of humanity! instead of children pressing their faces to the glass looking out for reindeers, wouldnt it be a lot better for then to spend the week in graciousness?
but of course there are cultural traditions to consider. in the mean time, ive got cards to write.
III. The Superman Legacy (Warning: Spoilers Galore)
so channel 5 showed superman returns last night. it was the first time ive watched it and in my opinion, if you peeled away all the superman hooha, its actually quite a poor movie. i mean, i get it, its superman, everythings supposed to be resolved in supermanly easiness. but hey, even batman lost something so why does superman get to win everything?
Case 1: Superman returns to find that his gf is engaged to someone else and has a kid. BUT WAIT! Resolution: Lois Lane is actually still in love with Superman and the kid is his O:
Case 2: Superman goes to the Isle of Kryptonite which Lex created to stop him from destroying the world but loses his powers and is stabbed with a giant slab of kryptonite and falls off the edge of the ledge into the churning waters. BUT WAIT! Resolution: He is miraculously saved by Lois Lane and revived. O:
Case 3: Superman throws the Isle of Kryptonite into space and crashes back to earth, creating a giant crater. BUT WAIT! Resolution: He lands back into New York (of course, all movies are like that), where he is rushed into the hospital. Once again, he is revived by Lois Lane (and his son Jason) with the Kiss of Life. O:
in the end, New York is saved, Superman flies towards the rising sun and all the happy again O:
ah wells, it is Superman after all.

ummmm. so apparently im rams lifeblood o.o all the more reason to keep blogging lest she dries up and dies.
so anws, there was another party at work today. i swear globetrotters is a model for successful businesses. its full all the time and has parties twice a day.
my feet are sore from all the standing, my arms are jelly from too many heavy trays and i burnt my finger today on fajitas.
but other than that i do enjoy the work. keeping myself busy has its merits ^^ plus pay :D and i get to see erik everyday (: even though there isnt time to talk when you're so busy and you've got a strict supervisor staring you down. xD

I have work again in an hour.
but anws! my first day was quite good. i was the water-filling, table-clearing, cutlery wiping, gift-bags-packing trainee. so yeah, that was quite busy. but on my second day i was the food runner! i think being the food runner is the best because fresh warm nice-smelling food is wonderful. but its also harder because 1. the plate the heavier, 2. the people are still there = obstacles and 3. its so busy you're practically running!
but besides all that its been fun (: at least im earning!

my baby is homeeee!
the past few days without her has been D: i dont like sharing my sisters comp (its is slow) and she doesnt like it either so its so much better now that shes home. although i envision this "breaks down every 6 months" thing to be problematic once my warranty expires, but hey, its not her fault vaio motherboards are lousy and thus needed to be changed ever so often!
someone must let me into the secret of not killing my motherboards. does it include: do not leave laptop on for more than 10 hours a day?

eeeeee. ive been busy.
lots of writing to do nowadays. plus i just got hired on tues to work at globetrotters (YAY SAME PLACE AS ERIK&JINGYI) and i start today D:
oh and i managed to fit in an awesome outing ytd ^^ 2 hours of cycling (xinmin learnt to ride in 20 mins. isnt that incredible?). jacq & yifei rode all the way to safra (jacq+bike = wonderwoman on wheels), xinmin and i turned around at the sailing club, and erik gaped at people doing cable skiing. plus 3 hours of sushi buffet. 6 girls = around 40 plates of sushi, half of which included salmon. we had 5 chawanmushis, 18 temakis, and infinitely amounts of sushi.
JACQ ATE 5 TEMAKIS. not counting the rest of the various pieces of sushi she ate. amazing right. how does she stay that thin?!
after we were all nicely fed, we walked around parkway parade. erik, yifei and jacq shopped at cottonon sale, where we desperately tried to persuade jacq to buy that pretty rose coloured slippers instead of the boring grey ones she wanted. ah wells, they were $5 anws. and then we tried to persuade qiying to pick a bday gift she actually liked, but failed miserably.
after we parted i took 36 to orchard to meet up with mom. more shopping! although there really isnt anything i want to buy anymore. but we did manage to find a nice skirt at iora. mngs 50% sale was o.o
my mom has pulled out the big guns. her offer: $500 to not go to KL with friends and consequently die in imagined bus accident. worth it?

wahahaha today was very busy! two job interviews and one outing. being out makes me very happy :D
the morning began with this interview for a position that my moms friend introed me to, but i had no idea what it was about. turned out it was for hotels! but chong warned me beforehand about hotels, so i wasnt too surprised when they started listing out strict criterias for hair, shoes, typhoid jabs etc etc. but the idea of it didnt really appeal to me, so i didnt sign anything just yet.
(heehee yeah i know i sound so picky yet desperate at the same time D: but hey i want my work to last, not quit after 2 bookings)
after that i went over to bugis to meet up with claire. ^^ we hung out at nydc for a looonnnggg while (sloweater!) then we headed down to bugis street. it was my first time there, which was pretty interesting. i like it. :D its a lot of fun! too bad i didnt have much to buy or else i'll knock myself out shopping xD in the end i got a vest and claire bought this adorable emo rabbit bag for next year.
adorable and emo in the same sentence! *gasp*
after our little spin, i headed down to globetrotters at novena. yup, chongs place. now also eriks place. the interview was kinda quick and all, but i think i did ok ^^ i really hope i get this one! because looking for a job is tiring D:

been out shopping the whole day.
what a fantastic fantastic experience :D my legs are very happy.
my mom and i started from isetan, then gradually made it our way to heeren, then back to far east. along the way, we picked up:
1 pair of levis jeans (trade in an old pair to get $50 off a new pair!) 1 dress 1 jacket 1 suitcase (free thanks to $200 worth of shisedo products) 1 pair of shoes (charles & keith has a sallleeee!) 2 tops
my inner shopaholic have been temporarily satiated :D now for the post-christmas sale!
p.s. since ive not managed to find a nice song, i thought i would return to the basics. Swear it Again, by Westlife. you're welcome to sing along. boybands ftw :D

i had a very interesting discussion with geoff this morning on, among other things, the concept of love and his new post (here), which in my opinion, is one of the best posts ive read. a refreshing change from the mundane-ness of current life (:
on the concept of love though, im not too sure what to think of it. theres no doubt that it exists, for the idea of "the couple made in heaven" or "The One" has prevailed time and certainly flourished in recent generations and spun hundreds of years worth of fairytales.
im not a cynic or whatever, and i do believe that Love is the greatest force on earth, but in my opinion way too many people make too big a deal out of it. even if, hypothetically speaking, we're all made for special someones.
but seeing how im extremely happy in my current state and look forward to staying this way, i will reserve my judgement on this fantastic force until it strikes, wayyyy of into the future.
on another note, kudos to britney for her newest album. i think shes doing good after that hectic period ^^ a lot of people think the spears phenomeneon is all just marketing and fluff, but if you cant get womanizer outta your head than she actually does make catchy songs.

i need a jobbbbb. sarah says globetrotters will probably not be hiring, so rawrrr! and she says i should try youguru or something like that, but frankly the thought of standing behind a counter squeezing yogurt isn't very appealing. but if i can get hired at lyn's branch then it may be fun.
but i really did want to be a receptionist though. -shrugs-

im so tired my eyeballs are burning.
ok bad analogy. urgh.
but still. i think my sleep times are really screwed up. 1/2amers are not too healthy for my state of mind. and im supposed to be ms-sleep-on-the-dot. D: what is the world coming to?
also, melanine in american baby powder. whats up with people and poisoning babys man. im so not letting my kid drink processed milk.
and i think my brain is not working right now due to the forementioned lack of sleep. i shall stop rambling now.
